The Embassy Jacket

Choose the size nearest your actual bust measurement. The pattern adds the ease the original design had.
The original: Worsted (Aran), at about 18 sts and 24 rows to 4 in (10 cm) over stockinette. For the closest match to the photo, use a yarn that knits to this gauge. Bulky (chunky) yarns and anything finer than DK aren't offered: the folded facings would double the thickness at the front edge and the saddles would turn clumsy, or the jacket would lose its tailored body.
Your gauge Not a swatcher? Most of us aren't! Just enter the gauge printed on your yarn's label (most labels give stitches and rows over 4 in or 10 cm). It's a good starting point, and the pattern gives you measurements to check against as you go. Want it to fit perfectly? Knit a swatch, wash it, let it dry and measure it over stockinette on your main needles.
This pattern can be written for 16 to 24 stitches per 4 in (10 cm). How to measure your gauge
