Choose the size nearest your actual bust measurement. The pattern adds the ease the original design had.
The original: A 5-ply crepe (an Australian weight, close to today's sport), at about 27 sts to 4 in (10 cm) over stockinette. For the closest match to the photo, use a yarn that knits to this gauge. Worsted (Aran) and thicker yarns aren't offered: each sleeve is gathered about three to one into a narrow cuff, which turns into a lumpy bunch in thick yarn, and the slim body loses its line.
How you'd like to knit it
In the round, the back and front are knitted together as one tube on a circular needle, then finished in rows. The rest of the pattern is the same.
Your gauge Not a swatcher? Most of us aren't! Just enter the gauge printed on your yarn's label (most labels give stitches and rows over 4 in or 10 cm). It's a good starting point, and the pattern gives you measurements to check against as you go. Want it to fit perfectly? Knit a swatch, wash it, let it dry and measure it over plain stockinette on your main needles.
This pattern can be written for 20.5 to 32 stitches per 4 in (10 cm). How to measure your gauge
